The Taihu water intake sources of Suzhou are undergoing a thorough desilting for the first time during the past 18 years to reassure the safety of drinking water in Suzhou. The project is expected to be completed in June. The ongoing desilting in Taihu Jinshu water intake source costs up to RMB35 million, covering 3.5 square kilometers of the intake source preservation area. 1.3 million cubic meters of silt will be removed. In this way, the risks of organic pollution will be relieved, and the entogenous pollutants on which the blue-green algae multiply will be largely reduced.

    太湖取水口18年首次大清淤

    记者从苏州市水利局获悉，我市近期已对太湖取水口进行18年来的第一次大清淤，以确保我市饮用水安全供应，该工程将于今年6月底完工。据了解，正在太湖金墅取水口进行的清淤工程耗资3500万元，范围包括饮用水源地保护区内的3.5平方公里，计划清理淤泥130万立方米。通过清除湖底的淤泥，可以去除湖底有机污染，减少蓝藻赖以滋生的内源污染物，有效增加取水口附近水体容量，增强水体自净能力，改善水质；同时，清淤还可以减少湖底淤泥对水体产生的二次污染，提高水厂稳定运行的安全系数。
