As a pilot city of the High Blood Pressure Control Campaign launched by the Ministry of Public Health, Suzhou is determined to bring its 80 thousand citizens suffering from the disease under regular medication within three years. As reported, incidence rate of high blood pressure has reached 31% among local residents over 35 years old but only 24% of the patients take medicine regularly and only 13% get their blood pressure well controlled. Experts say that uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to stroke, heart attack, heart failure or kidney failure. Doctors of the communities of the city have undergone a technical training lately and they are to make electronic files for every high blood pressure patient in their communities so as to give regular medical suggestions.
